General information of the hospital -

  • Hornsby Hospital is situated in Hornsby on the leafy upper north shore of Sydney. It is a modern facility having seen a complete redevelopment in 2018-2019.

  • Hornsby has a strong General Medicine focus with most medical admissions coming under the General Physicians, so ATs gain experience on managing a variety of unfiltered acute cases from across multiple specialties. The MAU is the area where the most acute patients are admitted.

  • General Medicine is supported by other medical specialties on-site, which include ICU, Cardiology (including CCU), Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Oncology/Hematology (including the chemotherapy unit), Neurology (including the stroke unit), Endocrinology, Geriatrics, Renal medicine (including dialysis), Palliative care and Rheumatology.

  • Hornsby also is a tertiary referral Psychiatry center and has on site Pediatrics as well as Surgical specialties (including General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Urology, O+G and Plastics). There is also an inpatient Rehabilitation unit.

  • You will be working closely with your ward consultants and ward based allied health staff, as well as with the subspeciality consultants.

Quality of life -

  • Hornsby has an ongoing reputation among JMOs as being one of the most friendly and supportive Hospitals to work in in the state.

  • There is a JMO lounge as well as café and food options on site. There is also a popular local café across the road.

  • Paid safe undercover parking is available on site.

  • Hornsby is well connected to the city with fast trains from central every 5 minutes and a journey time of around 30mins. It borders the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park where there are fantastic Bushwalking and Bike riding opportunities.

  • There are excellent local schools and Day Care facilities.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Accomdation is NOT provided, however, there are after hours/night shift rooms available.
